Allen’s Bar & Grill will host “Cancer Auxiliary Night at Allen’s” at their new location on Hawthorne Avenue in Athens in which 10% of the proceeds will be donated to AACA. Four events have been scheduled so far and include:

• Monday, September 15, 2008 (4:00 pm to close)
• Monday, October 20, 2008 (4:00 pm to close)
• Monday, November 17, 2008 (4:00 pm to close)
• Monday, December 15, 2008 (4:00 pm to close)

New owners Mark Hammond and Hilt Moree approached AACA to begin hosting the Auxiliary Nights in order to give back to the community. “We enjoy finding ways to help,” said Mark. “Allen’s has a long standing tradition of supporting the community and we are thrilled to carry that on with our new partnership with AACA.”

Allen’s originally opened in 1955 and was located on Prince Avenue. After it closed in 2004, Hammond and Moree reopened it in 2007. Even in it’s new location, Allen’s features much of the original decor and many items from the original menu, but includes several new items such as salads, soups, sides and a wider selection of sandwiches.

Everyone is invited to join members and sustainers of the Athens Area Cancer Auxiliary as well as regular patrons of Allen’s to dine on the Monday Auxiliary Nights at Allen’s and help support the mission of AACA, to work to eradicate cancer through education, awareness, service projects, and fundraising efforts to support local cancer causes.
