AACA Hosts Movie Fundraiser at Cine
Feb 16, 2010 by Natalie Glenn
The Athens Area Cancer Auxiliary (AACA) will present a special screening of the John Hughes classic 80’s movie “Pretty in Pink” on Sunday, February 28, 2010 at 3:30 pm at Cine in downtown Athens.
The Athens Area Cancer Auxiliary has a forty-year history of providing direct service and funds to organizations that support cancer patients in the Athens community. The all-volunteer organization works to eradicate cancer through education, awareness, service projects and fundraising efforts.
Tickets for the movie are $15 in advance and $20 at the door and include movie snacks and drinks. Tickets are available online at www.athenscine.com and at the box office. Seating is limited.
Originally released in 1986, “Pretty in Pink” features a cast that includes Molly Ringwald, Jon Cryer, Andrew McCarthy, James Spader, Harry Dean Stanton, Annie Potts, Andrew Dice Clay and Gina Gershon. The “Brat Pack” film is a teen romantic comedy-drama about teenage love and social cliques in 1980s American high schools.
This is the second Cine movie fundraiser hosted by AACA. Last year the group held a showing of Pride and Prejudice. According to organizer and AACA President-Elect Amy Chisolm, “this fundraiser is a great way to support the Auxiliary and our mission. We invite everyone to join us for a Sunday afternoon movie and help us raise funds that will support cancer patients and their families right here in our community.”
