The Athens Area Cancer Auxiliary will celebrate its 40th anniversary at a banquet Thursday at which the organization will honor its charter members and disburse the funds raised over the past year.

The anniversary celebration is set for 6 p.m. at the Athens Country Club.

The auxiliary also plans to recognize outgoing board members and install new officers, as well as recognize the auxiliary member who drove the most for the group’s signature volunteer project, “Road to Recovery,” in which volunteers take patients to and from their chemotherapy and radiation treatments.
