AACA Presents Movie Fundraiser

February 8 Showing of Pride & Prejudice at Cine in Downtown Athens:

The Athens Area Cancer Auxiliary (AACA) will host a showing of Pride & Prejudice on Sunday, February 8, 2009 at 3:30 pm at Cine. Tickets for the show are $20 each and include movie snacks.

The 2005 movie is based on Jane Austen’s novel about five sisters – Jane, Elizabeth, Mary, Kitty and Lydia Bennet – in Georgian England. Their lives are turned upside down when a wealthy young man (Mr. Bingley) and his best friend (Mr. Darcy) arrive in their neighborhood. It was nominated for four Oscars including best performance by an actress in a leading role – Keira Knightley.

All proceeds from the showing will benefit local cancer causes in the Athens Area. AACA is a volunteer organization that works to eradicate cancer through education, awareness, service projects, and fundraising efforts. AACA has a 40-year history of providing service and raising funds to support cancer patients and their families right here in our community.

AACA supports organizations that provide services, support and work to meet the needs of cancer patients and their families living in our community. In recent years, the Auxiliary has made significant donations to:
